Developing Adaptive Expertise: A Synthesis of Literature and Implications for Training from University of Bath on Vimeo.

This 31-minutes video lecture by Rob Hutton is a great watch for anyone involved in training or developing adaptability in people or teams - regardless if police, military, or other. It gets into what adaptability is, why its important to dealing with the complex challenges we face, how to develop it with training and the challenges and developing the research to ensure we are developing the people and organizations effectively. It discusses the difference between routine expertise, that's depended on carrying out tasks with policy and procedures and adaptive expertise that develop courses of action based on leveraging experience, sense-making and understanding to solve complex problems. Its an outstanding short video.

Lou Hayes recommended this in his Weekend Building Blocks which includes a lot more great information of value to policing.
