Multiple Attacks on Police Officers in Washington: Insight from Spartan Cops

The last several months have had unprecedented, cold-blooded attacks on police officers in the state of Washington. The Lakewood attack has been all over the news lately but the drive by shooting of Seattle Police Officer Tim Brenton combined with the bombing of Seattle police cars did not get much national exposure until highlighted in the context of recent events. More details about those incidents and donation information for their families below.

The year as a whole has had more multi-officer murders than any year I can remember. Oakland lost four officers in March. Pittsburgh lost three officers two weeks later, and now Lakewood loses four.

Lessons must be learned from these incidents to help prevent them in the future. Dean Scoville has written the best analysis of the Oakland tragedy that I can recommend. I haven’t found any detailed analysis published about the Pittsburgh Tragedy. If anyone knows of one, please post it in the comments.
