Orlando shooting suspect charged with murder, apologizes

Orlando shooter Jason Rodriguez was deep in debt and angry with the engineering firm that fired him because according to him, "they left me to rot."
Rodriguez, a former civil engineer, recently told a bankruptcy judge he was now making less than $30,000 a year at a Subway sandwich shop and was in debt to the tune of $90,000.

Police say Rodriguez, 40, walked into the engineering firm of Reynolds Smith & Hill, where he had worked as a transportation engineer for about a year, and opened fire with a handgun. Authorities say one person is dead and another five were wounded.
After a two-hour manhunt on Friday, police found Rodriguez, 40, at his mother's house. He surrendered and was taken into custody where he will remain held with out bond. He was formally charged with first-degree murder. More charges are expected.

Police said Rodriguez apologized about the shooting, saying he felt harassed while he was working at the company. He told officers he was upset that he could not provide for his family. Continue reading
